I have developed a method to help photographers with their projects. The first part of this method is to define the premise: a project description consisting of what the story is about, in what format the story is told, and why it matters. In a series of conversations we together define your premise and with that we lay the foundation of your project.
The premise the serves as the starting point for making the visual story edit for the book, exhibition, or whatever format is most appropriate for the story you want to tell. The premise is also the basis to build up the communication around the project: the story you want to tell and the audience you want to reach.

Defining the premise can be done after the production the images, but of course also at the start of a project: in fact working on the premise in an early stage can really help you build your project in a consistent way.

Defining your project premise starts at € 480,- ex VAT.

If you feel your project can be helped by having a premise defined, do get in touch. Our first meeting (virtual or live) is always for free and no strings attached.

Once your project premise is defined, we can move forward to creating the edit: the selection and sequence of your photographs. Together we identify the images that tell your story most effectively, and what other elements, such as for example texts, are needed to contextualise or frame your photography.

Editing for me is selecting those images and their sequence that tell your story best. I do not look for visual connections between images, but for the continuity in the story line. That is why I always start with defining the premise, before moving to creating the edit.

We tackle this sometimes daunting task in close cooperation: either we go through all the steps together, or we discuss edits that I create: it depends on how we feel we can work most effectively.

Creating an edit for a book project starts at a fee of € 850,- ex VAT.
